Saturday in Paris

Seth and Amy waiting to leave from Birmingham

Bonjour!  While it is the wee small hours of the morning back home, we are up and preparing for church on a beautiful sunny morning just outside of Paris.  I woke up at 5 a.m. local time, which I expected I would, and picked out a few pictures to show you from our day yesterday.

We have such a great team; I love them so much.  We got a little bit later start leaving Birmingham, but our pilot "took a shortcut," and made it to Detroit in an hour and a half.  Impressive.  I don't want to know how he took a shortcut, but it worked out well.  By the time we got off the plane they were already boarding our flight to Paris, though we sat on the plane a good while before we took off.

Good morning, English Channel

  Landed in Paris

We were met by Parker, his pastor, and two other members of their church, who graciously took us to their home where we enjoyed a delicious lunch.  We learned that the baguette is to the French what rice is to Asian cultures.  No meal is complete without it.  It was a gorgeous day, and I may have taken a picture of a French dandelion.

Our hosts were so gracious and walked with us halfway to the church from their home.  We got a nice view of Paris and our first sight of the Eiffel Tower and stepped on to American soil at a World War I and II cemetery.

We ended the day with a trip to the market and planning for today.
